It’s a shame that an islander like me who came from a country of 7,100 islands cannot meet Sue’s challenge of “Islands”. It just dawned on me that everytime I’ve been to the Philippines, I hardly took the time to take a picture of the sea or the beach for which we are known for. Not that I take them for granted but there are so many distractions when you are in the islands.
Tourists would definitely take pictures of the islands while the islanders would probably take pictures of things inland. That’s what happens to me all the time. Hardly spend time at the beach.
Here are my island pictures, some were taken in the Philippines but some in Hawaii and Hong Kong.
I love the talk of Islands because it always conjures happy memories, of vacations, lazy days, sun and leisure. For me it means enjoying the catch of the day, sleeping at the music of the ocean waves, softly like a lullaby, the fresh sea breeze. At one point I wanted to have a house by the sea and was seriously bidding on one but in the end when our difference was just a matter of a $100 bucks, the seller and I couldn’t agree and that was the end of my dream owning a house by the ocean. Of course there were other factors that came in the way but that was how much I wished it.

Love your island photos, especially the Honolulu one. It looks idyllic.
Thank you. It is very inviting. I just want to stretch my legs while I watch the ocean.
oh i love the sea. yes, it reminds you of happy thoughts. the red boats are quite charming.
Great gallery, as I always say .. don’t really know what I can say .. like them all – but the last HK photo is my pick. All the colors …
All registered boats in Currimao are painted red. I didn’t know you have to register them. In a way it makes sense.
Too bad it is a little dark, we went there for dinner. I love HK food but you are not fond of Chinese cuisine. They have a wide variety though.
I like Chinese food now .. but after all that time in China I couldn’t stand it for years .. nearly 20 years before I eaten again. Hong Kong offers all cuisines – one of the reasons why I like Hong Kong – the whole world in one spot.
You are right, Hong Kong is truly a melting pot of world cuisine.
