Sue’s photo challenge for the week is Garden. This is a subject so close to my heart. It used to be my eyes would lit up when I talked about gardening. My Mom and I have spent many hours together in our garden.
As a gardener, I love every single plant I have collected. I have bought many of them and perhaps half of them were traded with my friends.
Mom tended her vegetables while I did the flowers but both kept her busy, either by weeding or watering both each day. It is something we both enjoyed doing.
We have spent many memorable days in the midst of our garden. It was the one thing I looked forward going home to every night aside from my Mom’s cooking. And we have entertained a number of our friends there.
When I temporarily lost my job during the recession, I had to leave my garden behind. It broke our hearts but other things were more important. Mom was ailing and we needed to move close to my job.
I got my job back but somebody owns my garden now. He said his girlfriend would love to get her hands dirty and will try gardening but I knew it was not going to happen.
Someday I will have a garden again – next time it will be a tropical one. When I was searching for my next home I kept insisting to have a piece of spare land for plants. Right now my brother-in-law’s chickens have the run of the yard but I let it be. My sister is afraid of snakes and worms so I could not depend on her to tend to a garden even though she’s got plants in pots. So I can’t wait. It will be a new beginning.

I look forward to having one in a couple of years Viveka. Having a garden is truly like heaven.
I’m not a garden person – but I enjoy other peoples gardens very much. I hope of all my heart that you will get your soon, because you have the passion and the green fingers.
Thanks for the inspiration as always, Lou. I know you’ll grow that garden again — bigger and even better.. bursting with color and life. Like you are.
I hope you will get your garden back very soon!! Beautiful slides!
Thank you. That’s what I am really looking forward in retirement.
It will not be bigger, but Baguio’s terrain will be very interesting. I have a tiny patch but I heard my new neighbor (they just bought the property next to us and it has a beautiful pergola and big lot for a garden) is into orchids.
Thank you my friend.
