I love Ailsa’s photo challenge this week, “Festive”. See here.
It was quiet at work today so I took advantage of the time by walking to Macy’s. Every year Macy’s Walnut Room is filled with people and as a centerpiece is this huge, three-story high Christmas Tree. Christmas lunch at the Walnut Room has been a tradition to many Chicago families although I have only been there once and it was not Christmas. I think I should add that in my bucket list of things to do in the future.
The restaurant is on the 7th floor but there is a view deck on the 8th floor. You can have your picture taken with the tree behind you.
They change the ornaments every year. I remember one year they trimmed it with ice blue balls and it was so beautiful. The reason they call it the “Large” tree is because there are so many Christmas trees scattered all over the floors of the store but they are all trimmed in red. This one is really special.
