Travel Theme: Distance

Ailsa’s of Where’s My Backpack challenge for the week is Distance.

Am spending the holiday weekend here in the suburbs of St. Louis.  My cousin have set up two hummingbird feeders by her porch.  I watch them all the time feed themselves with syrup.  So far I haven’t seen any male hummingbirds which are much colorful and if you get close to them they just fly away.

So I grabbed a garden chair and waited for the right moment and from a distance observed them.

Yesterday, my cousin and I drove around in Chester, Illinois to see this historical covered bridge which is one of the few left in the state.

So wonderful and – you have really captured it beautifully .. especially the top photo, it’s like I can see his wings moving. Excellent shot.

the covered bridge is nice, and they don’t build them anymore. reminds me of the bridges at Madison county, the clint eastwood movie….

Thank you Viveka. These are females. I wonder where the males went, they are more colorful and are red.

Hi Viv, I want to get a hummingbird feeder and hung it someplace where one can enjoy watching them.

That’s what everyone has in mind when they see one. We drove many miles to find it as we cannot find an address that the GPS would take. In the end it took the old way, asking people, to find it.

I’m not a bird person, no very little what is male and female if I don’t see them on the same time, because males are always more colorful. Ducks I know … *laughing.
