Suddenly they are talking of snow flakes, then snow. We are waiting for the leaves to turn golden but it looks like it is not going to be a glorious Fall like last year.
My cousin said they drove south from where they live in downstate Illinois, to Hannibal, Missouri, just to catch some golden foliage but they were disappointed. We were too when we went to Mundelein two weeks ago. They hardly turned their colors from last month when we where there for Family Day.
Our neighborhood streets are heavily covered with old trees and yet many are still green. The trees are not showing their best show yet which may not come anymore if it snows tonight.
My friend already prepared herself for the coming cold weather – carrying all the potted plants indoors to winterize. Even the porch furniture has been brought inside and she instead put out her Halloween decors. Now, we have to get candies for the kids.
We are going back to Mundelein to see if the leaves has turned to their golden hues. Otherwise, I am just grateful that I enjoyed last year’s glorious Fall. I think that was the best in the many years I’ve been here.
This was two weeks ago, let’s hope this Saturday will be better.
