The days are getting shorter and the nights longer and the weather is gradually getting colder. Last week I waited for a day when it would get warmer so I could enjoy the Fall colors but it hardly got warm enough over the weekend. It went up to the 50s but I think here in Illinois the colors will peak this week.
But am not letting anything to chance. On the way to St. Odilo I noticed the leaves are yellower than last week and many of the red maples are showing their true colors. From blush to deep red. So wonderful and awesome to watch.
It was a sunny day so I waited for the sun to mellow somehow before I ventured out. I drove to Oak Park, which is the next town. People go to Oak Park to dine or tour the Frank Lloyd Wright homes and visit Ernest Hemingway’s old home. I didn’t do any such thing this time. Instead I turned into a leaf peeper.

the colors are beautiful,,,most likely more vibrant than the ones in Mundelein???? enjoyed the ride and looking at the beautiful houses in Oak Park and the Halloween decors…boo..

The beauty of Mundelein is the setting which is a nice background for the leaves if they all turn their Fall colors. It is awesome to see the earth and jewel tones en masse.

Amazing… thanks for these photos, Tita. This season is not turning out to be as vivid as the other years, or maybe it just hasn’t taken off yet, but these shots just gave me the total feeling of why i love the fall season.

I saw the forecast is warm for the next two days so there should be more this weekend. I might just take some photos at Hinsdale/Burr Ridge tomorrow when I go to my doctor.

It is not going to be as exquisite as last year when we had an explosion of colors. The temps last year was so ideal for the leaves to turn their colors but you’ve got to appreciate what’s there.
