Travel Theme: Connections

The word Connections could be interpreted in so many ways and am so glad it does. Ailsa’s challenge from Where’s My Backpack is Connection.

Our world is so interconnected that I find so many ways to look at the word. Here’s but quite a few.

A wooden pedestrian bridge connects two sides of a city divided by a tiny creek. And it is a safe way for people to travel from the parking lot to a nearby mall and university.

In the Philippines our culture is closely connected to Spain because they are the ones who brought Christianity to our country. Their presence of 300 years is still very much felt because of our religion.

Still in the Philippines, I will show you a glimpse of how the wealthy lived apart from ordinary people. I was wondering what this hallway was which was located between the front of the house but behind the bedrooms. My good friend who’s a historian told me that the hallway was the passageway for the house helps without being seen by the guests of the house. That brings the phrase “being or working behind the scene” a new meaning or shall we say a literal translation.

I should have said the private passageways connects the occupants of the rooms with the other members of the household and housekeepers. Being the resident of the country’s president then, many come and pay respect to him or ask favors and one can’t be going through the living room in their presence like one would do in a normal house.
