Celebrating life

Viv had her birthday celebration yesterday. Her actual birthday was on the 5th but among the Chinese (she’s half Fil-Chinese), they don’t like to celebrate prior to the day. I didn’t know that until I met her because my aunt’s birthday is not till this week and they also celebrated last night.

Well anyway we gave her a surprise dinner at Bucca di Beppo on Tuesday. She has always celebrated and am sure if Benny is alive, they would have gone somewhere special. She was really surprised and had a great time (I hope!). Thanks to my co-conspirators who attended despite last minute call.

Her parties were always fun especially these times as she has more new friends added to the crowd. A beautiful mix of people, a melting pot, which makes for great conversations.

I made Spicy Basil Chicken or Gkai Pad Gkaprow (Thai). I have posted the fish version here but this time I added lime rind, red jalapeno for spice and color, and scallions.

Most of the food were catered. Now we got a surplus of dishes in the freezer, we tend to over order – no cooking for her for a week or so.

Viv is one who truly enjoys life and we can only wish we can live retirement the way she does and look as astonishing at her age. She’s one feisty animal lover, especially dogs.

May you have more birthdays to celebrate Viv and may God grant you all your deep wishes from your heart and good health!

Yes, it is nice to have a new mix of people added to the old ones because relationships are never static. We lose some, we win some.
