Chasing Fall

IMG_0224It suddenly got cold and the leaves are turning their colors just as fast. Last week we found this brightly colored red maple and this week its leaves was almost all gone because of the strong winds that came with the rain. Still many of the trees are still green but with the cold temperature am afraid it won’t be long till they all go.

Enjoy it now while they are there.

Thanks to RestlessJo, I found the Festival of Leaves which am just joining now. RestlessJo has winning entries, so check them out.

Thanks Amy. This tree was striking last week and stood out because it was so red amidst a sea of green but this weekend almost all the leaves are gone.

I love your up shot – with just enough sky and clouds to give us even more of a feel for the maple leaves. and you know, to me – the maple is the crown jewel of fall in some areas – and this is a gorgeous shot. 🙂
    Peace!

It’s beautiful! I’m trying to capture them before they fall, but here the wind is doing its job fast.

Many trees are still green but the more colorful ones are going very fast. I think it is not going to be as spectacular as last year when the show lasted much longer. Grab what you can Elizabeth.

  11. Here it seemed like one day it was summer and the next decidedly autumn – probably because a sudden drop in temperature had turned leaved from green to russet. The came last weekend with its torrential rain and gale force winds and whoosh…though as I write this the large beech tree I can see from the window still has most of its leaves. They are late to come out and often late to go.

Exactly the same thing here. It is unfortunate that the red maple couldn’t wait. Maybe the rest will all come at the same time. I was surprised when Sunday came the tree was almost bald. But you are right, most trees are still green or an ugly yellow green.
