My entry to the Weekly Daily Post Challenge: Enveloped
Food easily comes to mind when you say the word enveloped. One of my favorite Filipino dishes is lumpia, our version of eggroll. It is a very popular dish among us anywhere we are because they are so good and everyone who tastes them for the first time ends up liking them.
Suman is a popular snack or merienda fare for us. They are sticky rice because when they are steamed the rice sticks together. The uncooked grain is called sweet rice maybe because they are normally cooked for desserts. In the Philippines we wrap them in banana leaves prior to steaming.
This is one of my favorite dim sums. The wrapper which is made of rice flour is normally filled with shrimps and dipped in soy sauce.
And who doesn’t like Vietnamese spring roll? If you haven’t tasted them yet, go out there and try them. My favorite filling is shrimps but it could vary – chicken, pork or beef, and I love to dip them in lemon and fish sauce.
