Independence Day celebrations – baby shower + fireworks

My cousin is due a couple of months from now. The baby is very well anticipated in my aunt’s household as he is going to be the first grandchild and the neophyte grandparents are looking forward to be called such.

So all their relatives, neighbors and friends gathered the afternoon of July 4th. My aunt who’s been an avid gardener had a chance to showcase her hardwork. I must say it was picture perfect – the flowers were blooming in profusion, lush and all looking so healthy.

It was a happy reunion as we only see each other on special occasions like this.

Of course there were plenty of food – too many to choose from – one can’t possibly taste all of them. So I’ve learned to pick and choose.

The party didn’t last very long as almost everyone has other celebrations to attend until it was just my aunts and uncles were left. It was time to visit with each other, catch up with our lives and then we drove to the mall to watch the fireworks. We really enjoyed hanging out together.

The weather was just perfect and with clear skies. After the show we went back to my aunt’s house to have a midnight snack before we went our separate ways.

Independence Day this year was a busy day for me with my brunch outing with my sister and BIL, then the baby shower and fireworks.

How was yours?

Enjoy your vacation in California! The state is so huge and the weather so diverse that each side is different from the other. Am sure he would love it. Aren’t you relocating?

It could not have been better Lisa unless one is traveling to a new place. But a day like that is meant to be enjoyed with family.
