The Lone Cypress

The Lone Cypress

This is my response to the Daily Post Challenge for the Week: Symbol.

The Lone Cypress is the eternal symbol of the Pebble Beach Company. The tree has stood guard on its perch for 250 years. It is a surprise to know that this tree is that old, it is not that big but am sure it’s been through a lot. When I first took a photo of it more than a decade ago it stood there proud and strong. However on my last visit, if you look closely it has been reinforced with steel wires. Am sure it gets a beating from the harsh winds, not to mention the strong waves from the Pacific.

You will see the Lone Cypress if you take the scenic 17-Mile Drive which begins from Pacific Grove to the majestic Del Monte Forest. The road ends at Carmel. The coast is beautiful and behind those tall walls you could catch a glimpse of some of the most private and beautiful homes in California.

You probably wondered why somebody would want to stop there but the view is gorgeous even if you didn’t notice the tree.
