Beautiful detour

On our way to an event in Rockford, I missed my exit and my GPS directed me to make a turn at a residential district. At first I thought that was probably the residence of the bishop (we were going to the Cathedral) as I could see we were entering a semi-private area. The trees were tall and the homes estately. I myself wanted to live there, especially at the house below.

This is my entry to this week’s Daily Post Challenge for the week: Vivid. I took extra pictures because I want to engrave in my mind how perfect that house would be for me.

The house sits on a rolling hill with tall trees and tiny garden. There was no fence and yet it seemed very private as the neighbors were quite a distance away. You know that the house is well kept, you can see it in the minute details and placing of flower pots around it. So inviting.

I’ve passed by Rockford to go to Geneva, Illinois during vacations only. It is 2 hours away by car from Chicago. I know they have a botanical garden that I’ve been meaning to visit and now that I’ve had a glimpse of this neighborhood I want to explore the city more.

As they say when you are handed a lemon, you make lemonade? I was happy at my wrong turn this time.

P.S. It turned out that this is the oldest house in the historic neighborhood of Brown’s Hills Knightsville in Rockford.
